Career
Marcelo began his career as a tax attorney with Brazilian and multinational corporations. In 2013 he migrated to criminal law, thus transitioning to practice in the anticorruption field, in both criminal defense and prosecutorial assistance of emblematic Brazilian criminal cases.
He defended Lava Jato federal prosecutors in front of the Attorney General’s National Counsel. – CNMP as well as Ministers, former Ministers, Senators, State and Federal Representatives, Heads and former Heads of the Executive in cases of great renown. He is currently acting as counsel in assisting in the prosecution of those accused of the Intercept Hackers case, fundamental to the Lava Jato Operation.
Marcelo also works in cases of compliance and the implementation of anti-corruption agendas and programs in private Brazilian and multinational corporations.
He has defended, as their attorney, the Military Justice Tribunal of Sao Paulo in a case of great repercussion involving the competence of the tribunal to hear cases of criminal intent against life committed by military police officers.
He is the founding partner of Knopfelmacher, Locke Cavalcanti Advogados Law Office, the result of the merged efforts and expertise of Felipe Locke Cavalcante, retired prosecutor, former minister of the National Justice Counsel – CNJ and former President of the Paulista Prosecutors Association.
